Looks like a real grumpy old bird standing there chuntering away to himself, well caught Kay.
Kay: Thank you, Les!! He was a grump. He flew to the other side of the pond after I took this shot. Didn't like me coming too close, the old geezer.

These wonderful birds always look so prehistoric. I’ve been feeding a young local heron the occasional meal of sardines and, yesterday, an adult turned up looking just like this! Classic pose you’ve caught here.
Kay: Thank you very much for your comment. I couldn't believe this one let me take his picture. He was so grumpy.

Great bird picture - check those long middle toes.

Do you think your standard conversion will work on birds?
Kay: I will have to try that out, Louis. Great suggestion! I'll post another shot in the coming days. smile
Great Blue herons won't be back to my pond till April. I love them so much and am glad to see this today. It's a very nice shot and I think he's posing for you.
Kay: Hi Mary, Thank you for your comment. I spotted this guy a couple of weeks ago. But it was so cold out. I'm sure he was wishing he had on more of a "winter coat". He looked cold too.
Nice shot Kay - what fantastic birds herons are.
Kay: Thank you so much, Bernie!

Love to see herons in flight Kay they just look gigantic in the air.
Love this shotsmile
Kay: Hi Tracy! I took a picture of him flying away, low over the pond. He was irritated that I got too close to him. I'll see if it looks "post-able". Not sure. Thanks!
Very nice shot. I like the pose
Kay: Thank you so much again, Richard!

I'm so envious of you being able to take this picture Kay, I've never been able to get this close
Kay: He flew away right after I snapped this one...irritated with me. Thank you for your comment!

hunched like an old man...clear shot of a subject i find elusive...
Kay: Thank you, Sam. I think he was cold, and that's why he didn't move until after I snapped this picture. I think it was in the high 30's - low 40's at the time. And breezy too.

Nice capture. I'd love to see more of the reflection next time.
Kay: You're right, Jewlya. I was so caught up in getting this picture because he was about to fly away. Perhaps next time!

The light in its head, is fantastic, Kay!
Kay: Thank you, Jose-Angel. I'm glad you like this bird smile
what a capture. Love the definition in his feathers. I captured one and have posted it too a few days back.
Kay: Thank you, Jen! I'm going to take a look. smile
