photoblog image multnomah falls - softly

multnomah falls - softly

I'm back...posting a few pictures each week instead of daily photos.  Hope all of my SC friends are doing well.  I missed you!

My sister and I went back up to Multnomah Falls.  It was a very rainy day, so I opted to make this a very soft shot.  (Yes, the rainy season has officially hit the Pacific Northwest).  Note: this is the first shot I've taken of the Falls using my wide angle lens...now you can see what it looks like in its full glory.

Which do you prefer, the white background or the black background?

Welcome back, Kay!!!

In this particular shot, the white background is probably best. Since I favor the black, I wonder if I would have thought to change the background if this were mine. Hmmm.

It's lusciously soft.
Kay: Hi Ginnie, Thanks for the lovely comment. Got lots to catch up on in SC! Hope you are doing well.

I love what you have done with this shot. I can't wait to see Multnomah Falls for myself! Maybe in the spring....
Kay: Thank you, Helen! You'll love it up here. The Spring is the best season of all. So many flowers and nice greens around.
I like your exposure here, nice.
Kay: Thank you so much, Dotun. smile
Great shot, Kay..wonderful treatment too. I think I would prefer this on a black background..more drama.. but white is wonderful as well... a testament to a great photo!
Kay: Thank you, Suzanne! What an honor, coming from you!

The black background seems to bring more detail out of the picture.

Excellent picture and processing. That was putting the wide angle to great use. I like the portrait style frame as well.
Kay: Thank you Louis!
love the freezing of the waterfall
Kay: Thank you so much, Chantal!
Glad to hear from you again Kay ! This seems to be a lost paradise !!!
Kay: Hi Florence! Glad to be back! Thanks so much smile
nice shot and post-processing!
did you use Orton effect?
Kay: Hi! It's an action that does mirror the Orton effect. You are right!
Nice processing Kay
Kay: Thank you very much smile

This is very spectacular - I like the soft treatment. It looks a bit like an ancient Chinese scroll painting! I usually prefer the black background on SC but in this case I think it might overpower the delicacy of the image.

Kay: I felt the same way Ingrid, about the background. Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comment.
I love your colour treatment in this shot.

Brings back pleasant memories of trips to the area, we have friends who live in Camas, interestingly shares your name!
Kay: Thank you so much, Alistair. I'm glad to know you've been here before. smile
