What a fabulous bird. The sheen on those lovely dark feathers is so gorgeous.
Kay: Thanks, Red Pen. I've never seen a bird this dark before. H(she) is a beauty.

Nice crisp and very self-important ducks. I think I need to go looking for some of these guys around here. These are good pictures!
Kay: Please do, Martin, and share them with us! There's a few of us "duck" fans at SC!! smile
Kay these are gorgeous photographs.Oh yes that explains them ... self -important.Excellent!
Kay: Thank you, Gale! smile
I am enjoying these ducks, Kay. I am loving the colour of the water, too. (:o)
Kay: Glad you like it, Roz! There were a lot of water plants in the pond, as well, which you can see a part of in a previous picture.

This time you have the black sheep? of the family. Great shot and another glint in the eye. I wonder if they are both glinting ...
Kay: I'm sure they are all glinting! Thanks, Louis!
Stella performance. Wickedly done. If you serve duck tommorrow a lot of us will become addicted.
Kay: LOL! Thank you very much Busola. There's that great word again "wicked"...it's my favorite!

Are you sure they are friends? The one behind looks rather envious of the black bird's beautiful shiny plumage - if looks could kill! Great shot.
Ingrid
Kay: Hmmm, now you got me thinking about the "friends" bit. Perhaps they are a little more than that! grin
never seen such a black duck
Kay: Neither have I, Chantal. Not sure if this type of duck is common up here...

I haven't seen Black Mallards for a while now, they are quite common throughout Europe. Mallards or ducks come in a very wide variety of colours both of the feathers and bills as will as their webbed feet. This is a wonderful shot, oh I just had another look and it seems to be a normal female (brown in color) Mallard behind the big black male, you lucky thing both species together. Do you have any more ?
Who's the lady ? smile smile
