photoblog image A Party under the Fremont Bridge Canopy

A Party under the Fremont Bridge Canopy

This is a series of six pics devoted to the Bridge Pedal ride.  Myself and 20,000 Portland friends participated on Sunday, August 12, 2007.

While struggling up the entrance ramp to the last of 6 bridges, promises of free coffee from Starbucks employees at the bottom of the ramp motivated a few cheers from the bike crowd, as well as a determination to get to that coffee.  We were greeted with a party atmosphere.  A series of bike vendors and energy/health food vendors set up booths, scottish bagpipe players entertained, and  like I said, Starbucks handed out free coffee to the tired (and sore) masses.

Me liking this capture, like the way you captured the guy taking the shot grin
Kay: Thank you, S/S! smile I loved the angle of the bridge canopy, and couldn't resist taking the picture.
Really like this Kay...this series has been great...look forward to the finale.
Kay: Thank you, Bridge!
Great lines and shapes in that bridge, and a lovely mass of color below. Free coffee? Where? I'm on my way. smile
Kay: Come on over, Red Pen! I would love to sit and have a good cup of coffee with you!
I am noticing that you are in creative process. Good pp for a good taking. Surely which the photo that the green man did, is not as good as yours wink
Kay: Muchas gracias, Jose! You are very nice smile

Kay: Ginnie, I would love to drink a cup of coffee with you! Oh the fun we would have talking photo snaps, the ones that got away, the funny times, etc. I look forward to doing that with you someday!

Your editing and choice of shots makes something special of what could be ordinary shots. And always the participant's viewpoint, hich is special in itself. Not just reporting.

Great shot again. I dunno hat Soyjoy is, but it seems to make people happy smile
Kay: Aw, thanks for the complements, Louis! SoyJoy is a healthfood energy type bar found in local health food stores. Since I am allergic to sugar, I have no idea how it tastes!
You inspired me Kay. I went into the city to take some shots of the Story bridge in Brisbane. No lovely big crowds to add to the atmosphere like yours.
Kay: Can't wait to see your shots, Aussie! (And I inspired you? You inspire me!!!)
great event capture.
Kay: Thank you, Chantal.

What a great picture this is. The bikers in the foreground, the bridge structure above, the crowd, the SOYJOY, so colorful and well composed, and gives a real sense of the scene.

My hubby and I are going to participate in the bridge walk at Mackinac Bridge Labor Day, its 50th year! It's 5 miles, and I hope we won't get claustrophobic.
Kay: Thank you for visiting, Ruth! Good luck in the bridge walk. Sounds like it will be fun! Will you be taking any pictures?
I like the arc framing all the cyclists!
Kay: Thank you, Martin!
Love the arching bridge drawing all the cyclists together. (:o)
Kay: Thank you, Roz! Have a wonderful weekend!
