Entering the Steel Bridge

This is a series of six pics devoted to the Bridge Pedal ride.  Myself and 20,000 Portland friends participated on Sunday, August 12, 2007.

I couldn't decide what to do with this picture, because it is nothing special. So I made it into several pictures.

The Steel bridge was the fifth bridge we crossed.  The views were wonderful, and I'll be posting shots here in the future.  As you probably can tell, I had to stop to take this picture.  Which was okay, because again, I was in the wrong gear :-(

What was great about this ride were the volunteers who cheered us on, directed us on the route, or handed out water and other treats.  First aid stations were scattered along the route, as were the (ahem) porta potties.

So many people gave of themselves and their time to make this event work.  The cause was worth it.  I could see that Portland cares about its community.

That's an interesting idea - I haven't actually seen it done like this before. Full marks for ingenuity!

Way cool, Kay! Is this a PhotoShop tool or some other tool I know nothing about? It's very, very fun! And this pic works perfectly for it!
Kay: Hi Ginnie, it's a PS action that generates the pictures. I need to spend the time on how to create it myself...unfortunately, I don't have that luxury right now. I'm sure Suby or Sinem could point me to a good tutorial on the Web, though!
I like the mosaic effect. It is certainly a good way to spice up an image.
Kay: Thank you, Martin. I'm glad you agree. smile
I like this Kay. Nice treatment!
Kay: Thank you, Nacha! grin
I like the treatment too.
Kay: Thank you, Dotun! grin
This is cool! Nice touch! It really turns the photo into a totally new experience. smile
Kay: Thank you so much for your nice comment. I didn't know what to do with this picture. The exposure was off, and I didn't want the focus to be on that...so I used this method instead. smile

Great effect you have used. It can spice up an ordinary picture - not that I think these pictures from the rider's viewpoint are ordinary smile It is great how people work together to make an ambitious event like this work.
Kay: Hi Louis,
Thank you! I agree, this event took a lot of work to pull together. Glad I participated in the ride.
That works well! No idea how you did it, though. (:o)
Kay: Hi Roz, it was easy. I stopped and walked on the steep hills when I couldn't ride up anymore.
This really looks good, nice way to process it.
Kay: Thank you very much, Aussie!
nice processing.
Kay: Thank you, Chantal smile
