Lewis & Clark Terrirtory

Taken off of the Historic Columbia Highway, near Multnomah Falls.

Lewis & Clark documented their travels well, including their trek through the Columbia Gorge.  I remember studying them in my childhood days, but want to learn more about their grand expedition out West.  I found an excellent web site called "Discovering Lewis and Clark".  As a web developer, I have to give it two thumbs up.  The site is well designed, and provides snapshots of their expedition (even aerial photographs) and their journals.  Check it out!

For those Lewis & Clark afficionados, Powells Books in downtown Portland offers a huge selection of books about them.  They are the hometown favorite!  You don't have to travel to Portland to find the books.  They are also offered online!

Don't laugh at this, Kay, but this reminds me of when we walked through the Forum in Rome a few years back because of realizing the history represented by WHO walked through it. That's how I'd feel if I were walking through this wonderfully aged woods. I love stuff like this that has so much history!

And that L&C website is awesome! smile
Kay: Hi Ginnie, I won't laugh, because that's how I felt when I saw these woods. You feel the history. Thanks for your comments, great as always!
I am impressed! Forest shots like this are difficult to make interesting, but you did a great job.
Kay: Thank you, Martin! smile

I like history, although I didn't enjoy it when I was at school. I've bookmarked the site you've linked, thanks for that I'll spend some time reading it.

This picture makes me wonder how on earth explorers knew where they were and how they got back to where they'd started! It looks lovely though. smile
Kay: Hi Ellie,
Thank you for your comment. I know they mapped their journey out, so perhaps they followed their trail back. And maybe they marked it? Hmm. Good question. smile

Kay, this is an amazing photo! You capture the Oregon woods so well. I've been in Multnomah (Portland's county, by the way...) Falls. You do it justice. Have you been to the M. Co. Library? What a great building! I wish you would take a picture of it for us.

Los colores son brillantes y juegan con la espesura del bosque. Es una foto muy bonita, Kay.!

The colors are shining and play with the thickness of the forest. It is a very pretty photo, Kay.!
Kay: Ah, how nice, Jose! Thank you so much for your comments smile
