concrete or steel ? boat

I found this boat sitting in Tillamook bay. It was old, made of concrete or steel that looks like concrete, and looks like it still has a few stories to tell. It was very foggy that day. Thought I'd share it with you. Have a great weekend everyone!

Made of concrete - how odd!
Kay: Probably not, Chris. At that hour in the morning, it looked like it...the fog can do crazy things. smile

I wonder if it is ever used?seems to have an air of doom and gloom about it,unusual shot Kay.
Kay: Hi Graham, yes, it is an odd looking boat. I see a fishing pole leaning from inside the boat, so I'm thinking it was being used.
Beautiful reflection and tones Kay. Have a great weekend!
Kay: Thank you Richard. To you as well!

Ganz ruhig (still), perfet in form and stile!
Kay: Vielen Dank für Ihre netten Kommentar!
I like the different bands across the image Kay but I've never heard of a concrete boat.
Kay: Hi Brian,
It probably was made of steel or aluminum. Concrete sinks after all. But in the fog, it looked like concrete. smile

All kind of stories for sure. Lovely shadows and silhouettes.
Kay: Thank you very much, Mary!
Interesting little boat Kay, wonder what the purpose of the crane on the bow is.

Concrete boats have been built since at least 1910 with early examples being built in the UK. During WWII larger concrete baots were built int he USA as there was a shortage of steel and small recreational boats are still made to this day. So it is possible that this one is made of concrete.
Kay: Les, thank you very much for letting me know that my eyes were seeing what they were seeing - a concrete boat. I appreciate the information you shared, and find it quite interesting - especially since my Dad fought in the War.
Supershot, Kay!Documentary Photography!
Kay: Thank you very much, Kavita! And its very nice to meet you too!

Beauty in abandonment, love it Kay. The colors are nice too, subtle, well suited for the condition
Kay: Thank you, Mia! I have to go back this way again.
