old and new - Airshow #1 of ?

Taken at a Hillsboro Airshow.  An F18 and an old plane.  Don't laugh - I don't know my planes very well :-)  All I know is that these two birds did some great precision flying.  Very synchronized and impressive.

At any rate, I'll be posting a few from the show, until I get sick of looking at them!

Painting-esque is how I thought of this. Magic was another word.

You may not know your planes, Kay, but you do know your photography! Well done!
The old plane is, I think, a P51 Mustang. Anyway it's a great picture

The old one is a P51 Mustang used towards the end of WW2 and in the Korean conflict.

A little known fact was that due to its popularity as a private plane after the wars, the Ford motor company decided to use the name for a new youth-oriented coupe they started to build in the mid-60's

If you ant to read about the Mustand see http://www.aviation-history.com/north-american/p51.html

This is an excellent picture with a shutterspeed that froze the prop.
Beautiful capture. I think I once assembled a kit of a Mustang.
A great capture Kay of two fine aircraft. Well caught and nice presented.

Fantastic capture!!!
Very good fitting to do your comparison, I prefer the F-18. My dream was to be a fighter pilot but it was not possible!

Not sure how you got quite that close, Kay but you've done a splendid job of capturing these speedsters in flight and of presenting them beautifully after the event.

The older aircraft is definitely a North American P-51 Mustang (see also: http://chunter.shutterchance.com/photoblog/Mustang_/ from my attempt at the Florence air show in North Carolina.

The F-18 seems to get around a bit as I'm sure it's the same one as in http://chunter.shutterchance.com/photoblog/Final_Flypast_/ also at Florence SC air show.
Kay: Colin, your pictures are wonderful. You were getting pretty close there too. Very well done - thank you for sharing them with me.
